Setting up calendar and contact synchronization (CalDAV/CardDAV)

CalDAV is used to manage events such as appointments and available/busy times and publish these via HTTP.

CardDAV performs the same tasks for your contacts and addresses.

Can I use CalDAV/CardDAV with Cloud Office?

Yes, Cloud Office lets you do this with any account and device that supports CalDAV/CardDAV. The procedure for setting up CalDAV/CardDAV is described below.

Common CALDAV/CARDDAV clients (including Apple Calendar/iCal for Mac, iPhone and iPad)

CALDAV

Step-by-step instructions for Apple Calendar (iCal) for Mac.

Complete the fields as follows:

  • Account type: CalDAV
  • Click in the Calendar sidebar above and then Add Account
  • Username: The same e-mail address that you use to log into webmail, e.g. your.name@your-own-domain.ch
  • The password for this account
  • Server address: caldav.hostpoint.ch

CARDDAV

Complete the fields as follows:

  • Account type: CardDAV
  • Username: The same e-mail address that you use to log into webmail, e.g. your.name@your-own-domain.ch
  • The password for this account
  • Server address: carddav.hostpoint.ch

Thunderbird Lightning (CalDAV)

Step-by-step instructions

Complete the fields as follows:

  • Install the Lightning add-on in Thunderbird
  • In the Appointments and Tasks menu, select Calendar
  • To the left of the calendar, right-click and select New Calendar
  • Select On the Network and then CalDAV
  • Address: https://caldav.hostpoint.ch/caldav/calendarnumber 
  • Search for the CalDAV address in Webmail by navigating to the desired calendar – The server address is displayed in Cloud Office under Calendar -> Properties
  • Complete the setup and enter the e-mail address and password in the login prompt.

Thunderbird (CardDAV)

Step-by-step instructions

Complete the fields as follows:

  • Install the Thunderbird Add-On "Cardbook"
  • Click on "Cardbook" in the menu bar
  • Select "Add addressbook" and then "In network"
  • Continue and choose "CardDAV"
  • URL: https://carddav.hostpoint.ch/carddav/ADDRESSBOOK_ID  
  • The addressbook ID is located in the URL of the adress book in the webmail. It's the number after "folder="
  • Enter your e-mail address as username and the corresponding password
