An anonymous FTP account allows access to a specific folder on your server without having to enter a password. However, the person using the anonymous FTP account only has read-only permissions. This means that the person accessing the respective folder cannot make any changes to the files or to your server settings. They can only view or download the data.
Creating an anonymous FTP account
- If you would like to set up anonymous FTP access, log into the Control Panel, click «Services» at the very top and then open your account.
- In the left-hand navigation, click «Advanced» and then «FTP». FTP access must be enabled to create the respective FTP accounts.
- Click «CREATE AN FTP ACCOUNT» to create an anonymous FTP account.
- Select «Create an anonymous FTP account without a password and read-only access permissions» and then click «Continue».
- Enter a username for the anonymous FTP account. Make sure that the domain displayed next to your username also belongs to it, e.g. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
- Enter the path to the folder containing the data used for FTP access.
