You can set up FTP accounts for your hosting in the Control Panel.
This lets you give other persons special access to your website data (or parts of it) without having to give them the password to the main account. This way, when a person connects with an FTP account, they are taken directly to the specific folder on the server.
The person does not have access to higher levels on the server, which increases security.
Creating FTP accounts
- If you would like to create an FTP account, log into the Control Panel, select «Services» at the very top and then open your account. In the left-hand navigation, click «Advanced» and then «FTP». The FTP access must be enabled in order to create the desired FTP accounts.
- Click «CREATE AN FTP ACCOUNT».
- Select «Create a password protected FTP account with read and write access permissions» and click «Continue».
- Enter a username for the FTP account you are creating. It is important to make sure that the domain next to your username also belongs to it, e.g. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
This FTP account is not connected with any E-Mail accounts. The FTP account simply has the same structure as an E-Mail address. - Enter a secure password and confirm it. You can also click the «Generate» button to quickly generate a secure password.
- Enter the path to the folder containing the data used for FTP access.
