You can set up FTP accounts for your hosting in your Control Panel.

This allows you to give other people specific access to the website data (or parts of it) without having to give them the password for the main account. This means that when a connection is established with an FTP account, you are connected directly to the specified folder on the server.

These users do not have access to higher levels on the server, which increases the security of the whole process.

Creating an FTP account

  1. If you would like to create an FTP account, please log into your Control Panel, select «Services» at the top, then open your account. Click on «Advanced» on the left-hand menu and then on «FTP». FTP access must be activated under «Settings» in order to create the required FTP accounts.

  2. Click on «Create FTP account» under the menu item «FTP Accounts».
  3. Enter a user name for the FTP account to be created. It is important to note that your user name must also include the domain it must access, e.g. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. However, this FTP account has nothing to do with an e-mail account. The name of the FTP account is just structured in the same way as an e-mail address.
  4. The «Anonymous mode» option must be deactivated for the FTP account type in order to grant read and write permissions to the FTP account.
