DKIM is an e-mail authentication method that adds a digital signature to e-mails. The recipient’s server can verify this signature with a public key stored in the DNS zone of the sender domain. This article provides further information on how DKIM works and its advantages.
How to principally activate DKIM is described in this article. However, it’s possible that you use Hostpoint for your e-mail traffic, but your domain is managed externally, meaning that external name servers are stored. In this case, you must activate DKIM in your Hostpoint account and then file the DKIM information with your DNS provider.
To do so, proceed as follows:
- Log in to the Hostpoint Control Panel with your Hostpoint ID.
- Open “E-mail & Cloud Office”.
- Click on “Display Cloud Office groups” at the top right.
- Select the Cloud Office group to which the domain is assigned.
- Click on “Enhanced protection” in the left menu.
- For the domain for which you want to activate DKIM, click on “Edit”.
→ You will see the status of the settings for this domain. - Activate DKIM.
→ After activation, the DKIM records are displayed directly on the “Enhanced protection” page. - Copy the records by using the copy function.
- Log in to the control panel of your domain registrar.
- There, open the domain management and DNS zone and paste in the copied DKIM records.
- Save the changes.
→ DKIM is now activated.
