As of January 1, 2024, the VAT rates in Switzerland will be adjusted:
Rate | Until December 31,2023 | From January 1, 2024 |
---|---|---|
Standard rate | 7.7% | 8.1% |
Reduced rate | 2.5% | 2.6% |
What does this mean for my webshop?
Unless you have made your own adjustments to the tax matrix in your webshop, we will automatically adjust the VAT rates as of January 1, 2024 for you. Similarly, you do not have to make any adjustments if your webshop is not taxable.
Where can I find the tax matrix?
You can find the current tax matrix in your webshop (S, M, L or XL) under “Settings” -> “Taxes” and then under the “Tax Matrix” tab.
How are prices rounded?
If you issue net invoices, then the net price is the basis and the VAT is calculated and commercially rounded. If, on the other hand, you issue gross invoices, the gross price is the starting basis and the included VAT is calculated from it and commercially rounded.
You can check whether you list the prices including or excluding VAT under the administration interface for the shop under “Settings” -> “Taxes” -> “Enter prices in the administration”.
On January 1, 2024, once the new VAT rates have been imported, we will automatically adjust the difference between the old and new VAT rate so that the gross prices remain correct. You can manually modify this again afterwards.
This change affects all shops which use the “Gross” tax model under “Settings” -> “Taxes”. If you would prefer to switch over manually, please select the “Net” setting there.
