If you are currently operating an online shop using the Base version and want to upgrade it to the Now version, you can export your products and then import them back into the Now version of the shop.

Set up the Now shop

However, you will need to configure the following Shop settings again in the Now shop:

  • General settings
  • Shipping methods
  • Payment methods
  • E-mail events
  • Settings for the ordering process
  • Tax settings
  • Countries/regions

You will also need to set up the following features/elements again:

  • Product portals
  • eBay
  • Google Analytics
  • Trusted Shops

Newsletter

If you are sending your customer newsletters with the Base shop version, you can also export the newsletter recipients.

Simply go to «Marketing» → «Newsletter» in your shop and select the relevant campaign. Then select «Recipients» and click the button «Export all recipients». This creates a CSV file containing the recipients for the selected campaign.

You can then import this data back into the Newsletter app in the new version of the shop.

Moving your products

To transfer your products from the Base shop to the Now shop, follow these steps:

  1. Export the data from the Base shop and a template from the Now shop
  2. Edit the product data
  3. Import the product data into the Now shop
  4. Verify the imported data records

Export the data from the Base shop and the templates from the Now shop

First, you need to export your product data from the Base shop. To transfer your products, you need the following export files from the Base shop:

  1. Product types (file name: Product_types.csv)
  2. Products (file name: Products.csv)
  3. Content/categories/pages (file name: Content_category_pages.csv.)
  4. Product categorizations (file name: Product_categorization.csv)
  5. Cross-selling (file name: Cross-selling.csv)

Then export the following elements from the Now shop (in the Now shop, you can find the export file under «Settings» and then «Export and Import»):

  1. Product types (file name: Product_types.csv)
  2. Products (file name: Products.csv)
  3. Categories (file name: Categories.csv.)
  4. Product categorizations (file name: Product_categorization.csv)
  5. Cross-selling (file name: Cross-selling.csv)

Edit the product data

To edit the exported file, we recommend using LibreOffice Calc instead of Microsoft Excel, as using Excel can corrupt the formatting of the exported data.

The CSV files of the Base and Now versions of the shop always have the same structure.

The first row contains the names of the columns, followed by data records, each in its own row.

We recommend opening the CSV file you have exported from the Base shop in one window and the file you have exported from the Now shop in another window.

Now compare the columns. Delete the columns in the export file from your Base shop if they are not found in the other export file from the Now shop.

Repeat the procedure for all exported files and compare the columns each time. If the columns of the two files match, save the Export file containing your content from the Base shop.

Import the products

Now import the edited CSV files in the following order:

  1. Product types (file name: Product_types.csv)
  2. Products (file name: Products.csv)
  3. Content/categories/pages (file name: Content_category_pages.csv. When importing this file, only the categories are imported)
  4. Product categorizations (file name: Product_categorization.csv)
  5. Cross-selling (file name: Cross-selling.csv)

In the administration area of the Now shop, go to «Settings», select «Export and Import» and then «Import». Under «Data import», you can now select the appropriate option. Then click «Select file» next to «CSV import file» and navigate to the appropriate file on your computer.

Under «More options» select the same options you used when you exported the data from your Base shop. Then click «Import».

Repeat the procedure for all five files.

However, you cannot import product bundles, personalized products or downloaded products.

Only the product types «Text» and «Text with value selection» can be imported.

Verify the imported products

Next, we recommend performing some random checks on the imported products in your shop. This allows you to determine whether the import worked as expected and whether the products appear as they should.
