When migrating from Wordpress.com to Hostpoint, you can only migrate the WordPress content (articles, pages and comments) and not the installation itself (including databases).
Data export from Wordpress.com
Log-in at wordpress.com with your login credentials and click on «Settings» in the dashboard. Select «Export data» to define the desired data for the export and download the offered .zip-file.
If you also want to export the media library you can select this in the same window and also download the corresponding zip file.
Installing WordPress on your Hostpoint hosting
If you already have a hosting at Hostpoint, you can log-in to the Control Panel with your login credentials and switch to «Web pages» on the server overview. If you are already hosted by Hostpoint, you can log in to the control panel with your access data and switch to the «Websites» section in the server overview. In the left-hand menu, select the «One-Click Apps» sub-heading, change to «Available apps» and install the desired version of WordPress. Import of data
Log on to the WordPress backend and select the menu item «Tools» -> «Import data».
Select «WordPress» as system, click on «Install now" and then on «Run Importer».
Extract the previously downloaded files from wordpress.com, select the .xml file and import it using «Update and Import File».
In the next step you can define the author to which the imported articles will be assigned to and then complete the import.
Your content is now imported in the WordPress installation on your Hostpoint hosting.
