Two-factor authentication (abbreviated 2FA) or multi-factor authentication (abbreviated MFA) is an authentication method that requires users to verify their identity using several factors (e.g. password, fingerprint, SMS code). This provides additional protection against unauthorized access of user accounts and increases security for users and organizations. With multi-factor authentication, users can only log into their account if they prove in multiple ways that they are the rightful account holder when logging in.

Hostpoint also offers the option of two-factor authentication free of charge as a means of additionally protecting the security of Hostpoint accounts. For more information on activating two-factor authentication, read this article.

If two-factor authentication is activated, you first have to enter your Hostpoint ID password and then a code generated via an authenticator app (e.g. Authy, Google Authenticator, Aegis) on your smartphone.
