This depends on the TTL (time to live) that you have defined for your records.
Hostpoint uses the following default values:
|Record type||TTL in seconds|
|A, CNAME, TXT, SRV||300|
The value is specified in seconds. A record with a TTL set to 300 translates to 5 minutes. The change will be active no later than this period.
The TTL is the “target time” for how long a name server is allowed to save a record in the cache. After this time has elapsed, the name server is forced to query/resolve the record again. The new result will then be cached for the length of time specified in the TTL. Based on the example above, the newly selected mail server will be contacted externally after no more than one hour.
