To be able to use your domain with the mail service from Microsoft 365, you must connect the domain to Microsoft 365 via the DNS records. A template is available in the Hostpoint Control Panel so that you do not have to add or edit the corresponding entries manually.
Proceed as follows:
- Log in to the Hostpoint Control Panel with your Hostpoint ID.
- Click on “Domains” in the menu at the top and then on “Edit DNS zone” to access the DNS administration.
- Click on “Google Workspace”.
- If available, enter the ID from Microsoft 365. This is a TXT value that is displayed in the Microsoft portal. Otherwise leave the field empty.
- Click on “Continue”.
- Enter your Microsoft user name and the Office 365 mail server under “MX record”.
- Select whether your current MX, SPF and CNAME records should be removed or retained.
- MX records: MX records contain the name of the mail server used for sending e-mails.
- SPF record: An SPF record defines which mail servers/IP addresses are allowed to send e-mails with your domain.
- CNAME record: With a CNAME record, you can refer your domain to another domain, i.e. store an alias.
- You can use the “Preview” to see what your DNS zone will look like.
- Click on “Execute now” to apply the changes.
→ The changes are adopted.
