DNS Anycast is a technology that speeds up DNS queries by allowing DNS servers around the world to respond to them.
Without DNS Anycast (Unicast), DNS queries are always sent to the same DNS servers in Switzerland. The disadvantage of this solution is that DNS queries from other countries first have to travel what is potentially a very long way to our servers in Switzerland before a response is available and the website can be loaded.
With DNS Anycast, responses to DNS queries are provided by a network of different, globally distributed DNS servers. DNS Anycast technology makes it possible for the nearest DNS server to respond to a DNS query. This speeds up website response time, particularly the initial page request.
