Will Hostpoint transfer the contractual period of my domain?

Whether the term of a domain is taken over after the transfer depends on the domains extension and is specified by the responsible registry. In the case of .ch/.li domains, for example, we overtake the full remaining term and only charge you for your transferred domain after it would expire. The transfer itself is free of charge. For gTLDs (.com, .net, .org, .biz and .info) and new gTLDs (e.g. .blog, .shop, etc.), the remaining term is generally taken over as well, but the domain is automatically renewed for one year during the transfer process. The transfer of such domains is also free of charge, but the renewal is charged. However, there are also domain transfers, mostly transfers of country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs), for which the term is not taken over. For .de domains, for example, the term is adjusted to the transfer date.
