Have you created an e-mail address in the Hostpoint Control Panel and now want to set it up on your iPhone or iPad? We’ll show you how in this article – one step at a time.
E-mail account administration
- Open the settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap “Apps”.

- Search for the “Mail” app and then tap on “Mail Accounts”.

Adding an e-mail account
- Now select “Add Account” to start the setup wizard.

- Enter your e-mail address and tap on “Next”.

- Tap “Add other account” at the bottom of the list to show all providers and then “Mail Account”.

Configuration
- Under “Name,” enter a name that you want to use as the sender for your e-mails.
- Check the e-mail address in the “Email” field.
- Enter the password, that you defined in the Hostpoint Control Panel when setting up the e-mail address.
- Under “Description,” you can give your account a name. The name will later be displayed in the overview of e-mail accounts.
- Tap “Next”.

Choosing the account type: POP3 or IMAP
Now choose between a POP3 or IMAP account.
- IMAP
- Using IMAP saves your e-mails on the server. Each time you read an e-mail, a copy is downloaded from the server.
- POP3
- Using POP3 downloads and saves your e-mails to your smartphone or tablet. The messages are then deleted from the server. This way, you can also read your e-mails offline at any time, for example if you are on the train.
If you are not certain, choose IMAP.

IMAP
- In the “Host Name” field under “Incoming Mail Server”, enter the server name imap.mail.hostpoint.ch.
- Enter the full e-mail address in “Username” and the corresponding password in the field below.
POP3
- In the “Host Name” field under “Incoming Mail Server”, enter the server name pop.mail.hostpoint.ch.
- Enter the full e-mail address in “Username” and the corresponding password in the field below.
Outgoing mail server
- In the “Host Name” field under “Outgoing Mail Server”, enter the server name asmtp.mail.hostpoint.ch.
- Enter the full e-mail address in “Username” and the corresponding password in the field below.
This is mandatory, otherwise the connection to the outgoing mail server will not work and you will not be able to send e-mails.

Finish setup
- Once you have filled in the correct information for all fields, you can check the settings by clicking “Next”.
- Then tap “Save” to finish setting up the e-mail address.

Check encryption
- Open the account you just created.

- Tap “Account Settings”.

- Select “Advanced” to see the settings of the incoming mail server.

- Check the encryption settings for the incoming mail server:

- Go back to the account. Tap “SMTP” and then on the configured server asmtp.mail.hostpoint.ch.

- Check the encryption settings for the outgoing mail server:

- If the “Username” and “Password” fields are left blank, please re-enter your e-mail address and password here.
