Here you can find out what to do if your domain is registered with another provider and you only want to use e-mail traffic through Hostpoint:
Changing name server
If you do not require any other services relating to your domain apart from e-mail (e.g. no website), we recommend entering the Hostpoint name servers on your domain with your domain provider.

Modifying DNS Entries
If you operate a website with another provider and only want to use Hostpoint’s e-mail traffic, you need to make changes to the DNS zone.
You can usually find out the DNS zone from your website provider. The following entries must be changed there:
Domain | Type | TTL | Priority | Value |
---|---|---|---|---|
your-domain.ch mx2.mail.hostpoint.ch | MX | 3600 | 10 | |
your-domain.ch mx1.mail.hostpoint.ch | MX | 3600 | 10 | |
autoconfig.your-domain.ch autoconfig.mail.hostpoint.ch | CNAME | 300 | - | |
autodiscover.your-domain.ch autoconfig-nonssl.mail.hostpoint.ch | CNAME | 300 | - | |
your-domain.ch redirect=spf.mail.hostpoint.ch” | TXT | 300 | - | "v=spf1 |
- The MX entries are there to direct your e-mail traffic to Hostpoint.
- The CNAME entries ensure that the e-mail program you use to configure the e-mail address automatically finds our server settings.
- The SPF entry serves to protect your domain from fake senders and phishing abuse.
