What is an alternative e-mail address?

Hostpoint e-mail users have the option of creating alternative e-mail addresses (aliases) in addition to their primary e-mail address. These alternative e-mail addresses are linked to your actual e-mail address and use the same inbox and settings.

Unfortunately, publicly visible e-mail addresses are often misused for spam. You can delete an alternative e-mail address after use and no more e-mails will be sent to that address.

E-mails addressed to an alternative e-mail address are delivered to the primary e-mail address (same inbox).

When sending e-mails, you can also use the alternative e-mail address as the sender. This means that your primary e-mail address is not visible when the e-mail is sent, only the alternative e-mail address.

Example:

The e-mail address “This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.” has the alternative e-mail addresses “This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.” and “This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.”. This allows the persons “Fisher” and “Smith” to work from the same mailbox with two different sender and recipient addresses, and the actual e-mail address is not visible to external persons.
