Do you have a Hostpoint e-mail address that you no longer need? This article explains how you can delete and restore e-mail addresses.
Deletion options
If you no longer need an e-mail address set up with Hostpoint, you can delete it in the Hostpoint Control Panel.
You have the following two options for deletion:
- Temporarily delete e-mail address: This option deletes your e-mail and Cloud Office data, but you can restore it yourself within 30 days free of charge. Once this period has elapsed, the data is permanently deleted. After that, restoration is also subject to a fee and only possible via our support team.
- Permanently and immediately delete the e-mail address: This option permanently deletes all e-mail and Cloud Office data (e.g. Hostpoint Drive files, calendar entries).
Warning: Please note: If you still need your data after deletion, the only option remaining to you is an emergency restore via old backups, which is subject to a charge (CHF 100). You can request this from our support team via the Hostpoint Control Panel. Since backups are only made once a day from the 15th day, however, we cannot guarantee that all data can be fully recovered.
An emergency restore is only possible for e-mail data, but not your Cloud Office data (e.g. Hostpoint Drive files). Depending on the Cloud Office product you have chosen (Basic, Plus, Business), your e-mail data is stored for 30, 90 or 180 days.
Deleting an e-mail address
To delete an e-mail address, follow these steps:
- Log into the Hostpoint Control Panel with your Hostpoint ID.
- Open “E-Mail & Cloud Office”.
→ You will see an overview of all your e-mail addresses.
- Click “Edit” next to the desired e-mail address.
- Click “Delete e-mail address” in the menu on the left and then the button of the same name.
- Confirm the deletion by entering your e-mail address in the field.
- Untick the option “I would like to be able to restore the e-mail address within 30 days” if you want to permanently and immediately delete your data (see explanation in the “Deletion options” section).
- Click “(Permanently) delete e-mail address now” to confirm.
→ The e-mail address and all associated data will be deleted.
Restoring an e-mail address
If you have not permanently and immediately deleted an e-mail address, you can restore the data yourself in the Hostpoint Control Panel within 30 days free of charge.
Follow these steps:
- Log into the Hostpoint Control Panel with your Hostpoint ID.
- Open “E-Mail & Cloud Office”.
→ You will see an overview of all your e-mail addresses. The deleted e-mail address will also be displayed. - Click “Restore” next to the deleted e-mail address.
- Set a new password for the e-mail address.
- Select the desired license for the e-mail address.
Note: If you have already used the previous license for a different e-mail address, you can order a new license directly here or – if a free license is available – assign that one. - Click “Restore e-mail address”.
→ The e-mail address and all associated data will be restored.
